Vivid Slumber

A solo for the Opera Graz

In the bathroom, standing in front of the mirror, which was not a backgrounded screen of glass, but a collection of images in front of my inner eye. While I had a blurred view on those reflections, I was talking to somebody in the mirror. I can't remember who it was, it could have been myself. I know that we were discussing metaphysical issues. We were having a conversation about having contact with other realities, worlds of feelings and spheres of emotions. The dream ends with me concluding that we have two choices. Either you confront yourself with the unknown and deal with it, or you simply ignore it. However, the second option of ignoring seemed not like an option for me, because as soon as I uttered the idea of ´looking away´ my reality turned into an apocalyptic scenery which woke me up. What I draw from my dream is the fact that everybody has the possibility to choose between these two options in nearly every situation in life: deal and work with the unknown or ignore it, and how easy it is to fall in a routine of a square life moved by limited understanding of ourselves and the world.
