Gut Feeling

Amalgam

Gut Feeling for Amalgam Event in Forum Stadtpark, was a cooperation within the framework of Steirischerherbst ´24

This interdisciplinary dance performance is a visceral exploration of the body's intuitive wisdom. Gut Feelings dives into the intricate relationship between logic and intuition, examining how emotions, sensations, and subconscious impulses guide our decisions and shape our understanding of the world.

“To have the guts”, “guttered”, “butterflies in your stomach”, “nó no estômago” (stomach tied in knots), “makes my stomach turn”, “seinem Bauch vertrauen” (to trust the belly), “empurrar com a barriga” (to push with the belly). So many language expressions to define feelings or behaves are related to our abdominal region. Through dynamic choreography, the performance explores these interrelations. Gut Feelings also reveals the tension and harmony between the rational mind and the gut's emotional intelligence. Accompanied by an evocative soundscape, the performer embodies the silent dialogue within.

Dance itself, like the guts, creates a space where emotions are processed and understood on a sensory, primal level. This performance invites audiences to experience the human journey from control to connection, offering a profound reminder of the wisdom we hold within.
